A dietitian is a person with legally recognized qualification in nutrition and/or dietetics who applies the science of nutrition to the feeding and education of groups of people and individuals in health and disease. Dietitians and nutritionists need at least a bachelor's degree. Dietians are prepared to be versatile through their education in the biologic and physical sciences, including nutrition, foods, food preparation and service, management, sociology, and psychology. Most dietitians are registered dietitians, which means that they have satisfied the classroom, clinical, and examination requirements established by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
