Medicare supplemental information

Medicare is a guarantee of affordable health care for America's senior and disabled citizens. The program is available to anyone over the age of 65 without regard to economic need. Unfortunately there are many gaps in Medicare coverage due to deductibles, copayments, and other limitations. Many people look to supplemental health insurance to fill in the gaps of their Medicare coverage.

Many Medicare beneficiaries have Medicare supplemental coverage with a privately funded health insurance policy. Medicare supplement policies pay for medical services that are not reimbursed through Medicare, including both cost-sharing provisions for covered services and services not covered (eg, prescription drugs).

Many private insurance companies sell Medicare Supplemental (Medigap) insurance policies for the specific purpose of filling the "gaps" in Original Medicare Plan coverage. When it comes to a Medicare supplement, the best advice is to call an agent and get the facts. You can also do a little research on the Internet to find one that suit your needs.
