Remove the old faucet

If you decide to replace an old or ugly faucet rather than fix it, you should remove the old faucet first and change it with the new one. As opposed to other home improvement jobs, the hardest part of almost any plumbing job is usually removing the old stuff. Corrosion and inaccessibility can make taking out an old faucet a real hard job.

How you remove the old faucet depends on whether it's a top-mounted or bottom-mounted faucet. Make sure you shut off the water and drain the faucet lines before removing the old faucet.
