Fixing compression faucets


The most common problem we can find in our home is about faucet. Most of faucet problems is related with compression faucet. Many plumbers know that leaking faucet are usually caused by compression faucet. Compression faucets are the old-fashion kind that have rubber washers that control the flow of water. It is common for the washers to fail and the faucet to leak after long time in used.

Compression faucets and valves need repair as soon as you notice them dripping or when their rubber washers become old and brittle. When replacing washers, you need also check the condition of the metal valve seats inside the faucet body. If the valve seats feel rough, they should be replaced or resurfaces. Before replacing a washer, buy a packet of washers so you will be sure to have the right size handy.
