Energy-efficient windows

You can cut energy costs by buying energy-efficient windows, doors, and skylights. Windows are by far the biggest heat guzzlers in most homes. Installing energy-efficient windows is one of the most effective ways of saving energy.

Windows are a source of major heat loss in winter and gain in the summer. There are many energy-efficient windows available out there. Choosing high-quality energy- efficient windows can save you up to 6 percent on cooling costs and up to 13 percent on heating costs. Windows with low-emissivity coatings are one example of windows that are more energy efficient. It is a good idea to choose products tested by the National Fenestration Rating council. New windows may be a big investment, but it pays the best you can afford.
