The bedroom is a place for relaxation, rejuvenation, and intimacy. The decor of the bedroom is important to its function as a place of rest. Lighting is a decorative element and a major source of ambience. Lighting in a bedroom has a few important purposes such as for finding clothes or applying makeup, for reading in a bed and for giving you a sense of safety and security. Lighting in a bedroom should be on two levels, a general central light that illuminate the whole room and task lights that can be used for reading.
General lighting provides overall illumination for the overall space. Side-wall lights are usually sufficient for the general lighting of the room.
Task lighting provides proper lighting where tasks or activities are performed. A bedside lamp is the most obvious bedroom task lighting. Bedside lighting doesn’t have to be expensive or require complicated installation.
