Preparing Walls for Painting


Painting your home with your own hand can be exciting. Painting is not difficult, but there are specific steps to follow for good results. Preparation is the most important step in painting success. There are several steps before painting project including prepare the surfaces, choose the paints, select the appropriate tools, and perform the painting. If you want high-quality results, you have got to prepare the surfaces.

There are several steps to prepare the walls for painting. If you don’t properly prepare the walls, the paint may not go on smoothly or be as durable as you’d like. First of all, identify all surfaces and wipe down the walls to get rid of any sanding dust that may be there. Remove any loose wall material use a putty knife. You also need identify any holes in the walls. Small holes can be filled and large areas can be replaced. It is also important to clean surfaces for painting. You can use trisodium phosphate (TSP) to wash the wall.
